Bugbrooke Bowls Club
The club was founded in 1989 and the green is located behind the community centre which we use for parking, catering and bar facilities. Membership is open to anyone living in or around Bugbrooke who is interested in playing bowls and our fees are most competitive compared with other clubs in the area. The bowling green consistently scores high marks in the independent grading scheme and is rated as one of the best greens in the county.
The outdoor season is from May to September. Each year the club has a full fixture list of mixed friendly matches against other clubs in the county. Since 2000 the men have competed in the Northampton Area Triples League on Monday evenings. This is a strong league of 32 county clubs split into 4 divisions and we are currently placed in the 2nd division. The club runs an active programme of internal competitions including singles and pairs championships which continue through the season. Triples and Australian Pairs competitions are played on single separate days. There is club league each Thursday evening from May to August.
We are a small friendly club and new members are always welcome. Even if you have never played before that is not a problem as we are happy to teach the game and have spare woods of different sizes and some spare shoes.
If you are interested in playing bowls and getting a bit of fresh air and exercise, please come along to any of our home matches and have a chat. For further information please contact Geoff Hayter 01604 831130 or Robin Frost 01604 831567.
The Club is most grateful for grants from South Northamptonshire Council and Bugbrooke Parish Council which together with sponsorship from Staysure Insurance Ltd. have enabled the Club to purchase new mowing equipment.
